WHAT IS SPRAVATO (ESKETAMINE)
A New Pathway. Rapid Relief.
Spravato is a nasal-spray form of esketamine, a ketamine derivative used in-clinic for adults with treatment-resistant depression. It's self-administered under clinical supervision and works on the brain's glutamate system involved in mood and neuroplasticity, which helps explain its rapid antidepressant effects for many people.
At Vivant Mind, every Spravato session is delivered under physician oversight in a calm, monitored clinical setting.

WHO IT HELPS
Is Spravato the Next Step?
You might be a candidate if you're an adult with treatment-resistant depression - typically after trying two or more antidepressants without experiencing the desired outcomes. Spravato is often used alongside an oral antidepressant as part of its labeled use. We'll review your history, current medications, and goals together to design a program best suited for you.

Your Treatment Journey
We make the process clear from the start, no surprises, no jargon. Here's exactly what happens from your first consultation through to the end of your treatment course and beyond.

Evaluation & Eligibility
We'll confirm candidacy, review your medications, and walk through the protocol and day-of instructions - including what to arrange for transport home.
Your Sessions & Schedule
Spravato is given in-clinic, following a structured schedule - typically twice weekly for four weeks, then weekly as symptoms improve, with maintenance individualised to your response. You self-administer the nasal spray under supervision in a comfortable treatment room.

Monitoring & After-Visit Plan
Expect a two-hour observation period after each dose. Common short-term effects include temporary dissociation, dizziness, and drowsiness; you'll need a ride home and should not drive until the following day. We check in regularly between sessions and coordinate with your ongoing care.

SAFETY & SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary.
Closely Monitored.
Most people tolerate Spravato well. Temporary effects can include dissociation, changes in blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, and sleepiness, usually beginning within 40 minutes and easing within two to four hours, fewer than 7% of patients in long-term studies discontinued due to side effects. You'll be monitored on-site at every visit.
Before you begin, your psychiatrist will conduct a full safety screening and walk you through any risks relevant to your history.

SPRAVATO VS KETAMINE
Related
But Not the Same.
Spravato (esketamine) and ketamine are related but not the same treatment. Ketamine can be delivered intravenously, orally, or intramuscularly and is not FDA-approved for depression. Esketamine is FDA-approved and delivered intranasally within a certified clinic program with required monitoring - a meaningfully different clinical and regulatory framework.

FAQ
Common Questions
Straight answers to the things people most often want to know before starting. If something isn’t covered here, call us or send a message, we’ll get back to you the same day.
How fast might I feel better?
Some people notice changes within hours to days; others build benefit over the first four to eight weeks as sessions continue. We track progress and tailor frequency accordingly.
Will I stay on my current meds or therapy?
Often yes. Spravato is typically paired with an oral antidepressant, and we'll coordinate with your existing prescribers and therapist throughout.
Can I drive after treatment?
No. Plan for a ride home and a restful evening. Most people resume normal activities the following day.
Is this the same as TMS?
No. Spravato is a medication delivered intranasally; TMS is non-drug neurostimulation using magnetic pulses. We offer both at Vivant Mind and can help you compare based on your history and goals.
